Chlorophosphines
Cytec maintains a dominant position in the manufacture of benzene Phosphorus dichloride (BPD), diphenylphosphinous chloride (DPC) as well as their oxygenated and sulfurized derivatives. Cytec manufactures these products at its Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee facility where it maintains world class Responsible Care and Product Stewardship initiatives. All products are manufactured to the highest quality standards (ISO 9002) and Cytec's unique high temperature manufacturing process for BPD provides a consistent high quality product. BPD serves as the key raw material for all of Cytec's chlorophosphines and chlorophosphine derivatives as well as being utilized as a value added raw material for products in the photoinitiator, flame retardant, additives and catalyst ligands markets. DPC while also being a critical raw material in the production of photoinitiators and catalyst ligands also has found acceptance as a synthetic reagent in the fine chemicals and pharmaceutical sector.
BPD can be oxidized with oxygen or sulfur forming benzene Phosphorus oxydichloride (BPOD) and benzene Phosphorus thiodichloride (BPT) respectively. Similarly, the oxide of DPC, diphenylphosphinic chloride (DPPC) is also available. These products are used in a range of applications including additives, flame retardants and synthetic reagents.
