Cytec Engineered Materials is a world leader in epoxy and BMI tooling for aerospace and motorsports industries. Major U.S. and European aerospace companies depend upon Cytec tooling materials to successfully build their products. In addition, Cytec has a leading presence in tooling for Formula 1 racing and high-performance roads cars.
Epoxy Tooling – 325ºF to 350ºF Service Temperature
CYFORM® 22 is the preferred tooling materials for motorsports and high performance automotive, allowing ease of use and modification for successful tool builds.
CYFORM 777 is widely used for aerospace and automotive tools. It is similar to CYFORM 22, but with longer out-life for large and complex tool lay-ups.
CYCOM® 5215 and CYFORM 7620 are widely used epoxy tooling materials for aerospace.
In addition, we offer ancillary products such as Cytec high gloss hard paint and Cytec surface gel coat for the ultimate in tool surface finish and durability.
BMI (Bismaleimide) Tooling - to 450ºF Service Temperature
BMI tooling provides the ultimate in tool temperature performance and durability. Many aerospace companies prefer BMI’s for their light weight vs. Invar®*, and their durability and temperature performance vs. epoxy tooling.
DURATOOL® 450 and CYCOM 5270-1 BMI tooling materials set the industry standard for performance with successful usage on programs at major aerospace manufacturers in the U.S. and Europe.
BMI is 75% lighter weight than Invar
BMI lasts about 5 times longer than epoxy
BMI tools can be easily modified and repaired
In addition, we offer a complete line of BMI ancillary products such as film adhesives, syntactic cores, core splicing and potting compounds.
